I tried to install an alternative driver from another printer (that had postscript emulation) and get it to work with this model but it didn't. I should upload images to show the comparison. And to clarify - there shouldn't be obvious dither on text - totally makes sense on graphics, but not on text. I tried the HQ12, and the HQ oddly printed a better version than the actual 1200 resolution. I did increase the density, they allow a range of -6 to 6, and it didn't make an impact. I'm not sure that its the hardware, it can just be the limited software/firmware they have for it - I'm on a mac and despite Brother claiming support, their drivers for mac are inferior in capability to the PC ones. No, I have older prints on the same paper with the same file from a different laser, and they're amazing, and then w this Brother printer it's awful. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance, after two days of research spent on this, I'm lost! TLDR: looking for a monochrome laser printer that has sharp printouts of vector text, can handle greyscale, and can also print a deep black (similar to an overprint). I'm basically afraid to purchase a new printer as I cannot trust the reviews online when they speak about "quality." I've determined the worst thing about Brother printers, and the L2350dw in particular is the lack of support of Postscript or lack of an emulator. However, I know that printer brands that were once good 10 years ago aren't necessarily good now. They've had smooth text, and I couldn't see the dots that created them. I've used several other laser printers over the years, and none of them had this level of low-quality print. ![]() ![]() I can see the points that compose any printed item when it is inkjet but was under the impression that laser printers didn't have that issue. Which made me realize that my understanding of "good quality" is not someone else's "good quality." I did not purchase it bc it was cheap, I got it bc every single website review said it created amazingly sharp text prints. I tested every advanced print function it had, and the quality of the text printed awful. It cannot handle any greyscale printing without banding - but if I print text in greyscale, it comes out all dotted. I just purchased a brother hl-l2350dw and it is the worst laser printer I have ever used - but it had the best reviews.
